Asbestos – Government Tax Scheme
Financial help is available. “The tax relief initiative” is a major financial impact benefit for both property owners and businesses. As part of the urban regeneration scheme, the government has introduced a 150% tax relief for companies incurring expenditure on land remediation, including buildings. So now the costs of asbestos removal/management from existing buildings can be set against company profits as tax relief.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 came into force on 13 November 2006 (Asbestos Regulations – SI 2006/2739). These regulations clearly outline the methodology associated with surveying properties with asbestos containing materials (ACM’s).
