Survey – why now?

Why have an Asbestos Survey done now?

Since 2002 legislation came into force whereby non-domestic properties must be assessed for asbestos.  It is the duty of building owners, tenants and any other parties who have any legal responsibility for the premises to manage the risk from asbestos that may be present in the building.

You are required by law to ensure that a suitable and sufficient assessment is carried out as to whether asbestos is or is liable to be present in the premises.

A specialist asbestos survey of the property is required to fulfil this mandatory requirement.

The HSE have stated that they intend to vigorously enforce this legislation. Non-compliance is now a criminal offence punishable with fines of up to £20,000 and imprisonment of up to 6 months, per offence.

Just because asbestos is present within a building does not mean it has to be removed. Asbestos materials in good condition, can be safely managed without the need for costly removal or remediation. Being independent of any building contractors who deal with the removal of Asbestos we offer independent and impartial advice on how to manage your asbestos.
